Now, more than ever, we want to emphasise the importance and clear physical and emotional benefits of martial arts training. Commitment to regular training can have great benefit toward promoting health and wellbeing for children and adults alike, especially during times of heightened stress and limited physical and social activity. We will continue to support our members to offer resources to assist you in getting the most out of your training during this time.

We appreciate your support, understanding and patience at what is a challenging time for us all. We will be providing information and updates regularly so please keep an eye on email, Team App or Facebook over the coming days.

AAMA Newsletter - March 2020

Posted by Admin All Active> on Thursday, March 05, 2020

Welcome to our first Newsletter for 2020 and wow, what a big and busy start to the year we have had so far!!
In this newsletter we will cover what AAMA is doing to maintain a safe and hygienic training space for our members and how we’re proactively further upping our hygiene protocols given the latest news about coronavirus. Read on for information about our 2020 Grading Dates, our planning for Black Belt training sessions and Instructor Teaching Courses, and an update on the new training floor upstairs!
As we all know the start of 2020 has been full of news that has affected us all. With the tragic bushfire destruction across Australia, followed by floods and now the Coronavirus panic, and we are only in the third month of 2020.
The coronavirus has impacted the latest news and we’ve all seen the effects of this in the recent supermarket panic buying. We’ve seen shelves completely emptied of supplies and no toilet paper to be seen! (Funny, because we make toilet paper here in Australia and suppliers have assured the public, we’re not about to run out any time soon!) Rest assured, AAMA will not be running out of paper either!

Centre and Personal Hygiene
So, what are we doing at AAMA to protect our members and provide a clean and hygienic place to train every week? Just as we have been doing in the past, we clean and disinfect our training mats, bathroom and training equipment daily. To be more hygienic, AAMA will be installing paper towel dispensers in the bathroom and above the kitchenette sink for hand washing and drying. We ask all members to help keep the centre clean, by placing all rubbish in the bin, not leaving water bottles behind after training, trying to not walk on the training mats with shoes, or leaving shoes in the way of doorways and always endeavouring to have a clean uniform, clean training gear and good personal hygiene! AAMA also request that parents of young children training or watching class accompany them to the toilet when required, to ensure proper hand washing is taking place.

March 2020 Gradings
The year has flown by so far, so it’s hard to believe it’s almost time for gradings! Our March 2020 Grading dates are as follows:
MUAY THAI - KICKBOXING   MONDAY 23 MARCH 2020 8PM
KRAV MAGA  TUESDAY 24 MARCH 2020 8PM
ESKRIMA DOCE PARES
 WEDNESDAY 25 MARCH 2020 7:50PM
KIDZ KARATE & ZEN DO KAI
 SATURDAY 28 MARCH 2020 1:00PM - 4:00PM
Black Belt Training
Part of being a Black Belt with AAMA in any of our systems means exploring new training opportunities and expanding skill sets. AAMA are currently planning extra training sessions for our Black Belts. These sessions will most likely take place on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year. Dates are being worked out now and AAMA will advise all our Black Belts of specific dates and times soon. We encourage all our Black Belts to cross train in another system – so if you have been thinking about trying other classes, please speak with your instructor.
There will also be an opportunity for some extra training on Sunday 5th April from 10.00am to 1.00pm at our Doce Pares Eskrima Training Day at AAMA.
AAMA is also an affiliated member of BJMA, meaning that all Black Belts can attend BJMA State Training Days. The next BJMA Training Day will take place in SHEPPARTON on Sunday 22nd March. (Please ask your class instructor for more info if you are interested in attending).

Instructor Training for Assistant Instructors
It has been great to see many of our brown and black belts assisting during class. All of you have the potential to become great future class instructors! Having the opportunity to learn how to teach and pass on one’s own knowledge to others, is an important part of one’s own training. Training for intermediate and senior students at AAMA includes instructor training from Level 1 (Assistant Instructor in Training) to Level 4 (Paid Class Instructor).
As part of our focus on personal and professional development for our students, we will continue to offer ongoing assistant instructor training, both during class times and through dedicated instructor training sessions, the next of which will take place on Saturday 21st March 2020, from 9:30am – 10:30am.

AAMA Level One Training Floor Update
AAMA’s new Training floor is still being worked on. You will see in the next few weeks that the cage will be moved, new lights put in and painting will be getting done. We are hoping to finish the new floor by June. We are looking forward to offering more training timeslots and  new classes for kids and adults once the floor has been completed. Thank you for your patience while we get this done!

Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter and helping us to make All-Active the best place to train in Martial Arts!

Filipino Martial Arts: Eskrima-Kali-Arnis Training Seminar Sun 10 Nov 2019

Posted by Admin All Active> on Tuesday, October 15, 2019

Filipino Martial Arts - Eskrima-Kali-Arnis can be a complimentary skill set to any other style or system of martial arts training.
Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) in particular Doce Pares, has been featured heavily in many films and documentaries that feature fighting with two weapons, for example two blades, two sticks, or any combination of weapons.
Doce Pares Eskrima training days cover a range of Filipino Martial Arts concepts and skill sets, from body movement and the principles of angling and footwork, striking techniques and using single weapons, double weapons, bladed weapons or "mano a mano" (hand-to-hand or "dirty Filipino boxing"). Eskrima Doce Pares teaches multiple ranges of offence and defence, using close, medium, to long range principles.
Our Eskrima Doce Pares Training Days cover multiple aspects of the art of Filipino Martial Arts as well as the sporting side of the art of stick fighting - WEKAF (World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation).
Training Seminars are delivered in a way that martial arts students and practitioners of all skill and experience levels and of any martial arts style or discipline are able to gain knowledge and skill to add to and enhance their own training in their current main discipline of martial arts.
Our next Filipino Martial Arts (Eskrima-Kali-Arnis) Training Day will run at All-Active Martial Arts Epping VIC on Sunday 10th November 2019, from 10am to 1pm. The 3-hour Eskrima training seminar will be run by Master Marc Toussaint, 6th Grade Black Belt, Doce Pares. All martial arts students and practitioners who are looking to expand or enhance their skill set are welcomed to attend.

Cebu Training Camp 2019 - Training & Culture in the Philippines

Posted by Admin All Active> on Tuesday, August 20, 2019

This month saw All-Active Martial Arts and Doce Pares Australia Director Master Marc Toussaint coordinate a training camp to Doce Pares World Headquarters in Cebu City, Philippines. A group of 18 Filipino Martial Arts students and Eskrima Doce Pares practitioners from all around Australia, including 10 All-Active Martial Arts Eskrima students, traveled to Cebu for a two-week training camp and unforgettable cultural experience.

This year's training camp to Doce Pares HQ provided the Australian Eskrimadors with the opportunity to learn Filipino Eskrima-Arnis-Kali from Doce Pares Masters, Grand Masters and Supreme Grand Master Dionisio A. Canete, at the very home of the Doce Pares Multi-Styles system of Eskrima-Kali-Arnis.

In addition to undertaking invaluable training at Doce Pares HQ in Cebu City, the Doce Pares Australia members and All-Active Martial Arts students also experienced special training at Badian Beach, sight-seeing, historical and cultural enrichment, canyoneering, traditional dining, entertainment and the most welcoming and friendly Filipino hospitality!

All participants received official recognition from Doce Pares World Headquarters for participating in the two-week training camp and presented with certificates. Three training camp members also had the opportunity to have their skills officially recognized when they successfully completed an official grading for international ranking at Doce Pares HQ. Two of our very own All-Active Martial Arts' Eskrima students were successful in achieving their International First Grade Black Belt ranking.

Master Marc Toussaint will be attending the 2019 SEA Games this November after having been invited to take part as a judge in the Arnis event category. The South East Asian Games are a biennial multi-sport event involving participants from 11 Southeast Asian countries. To be hosted by the Philippines in 2019, the SEA Games are regulated by the Southeast Asian Games Federation and supervised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia.

Master Toussaint and several of our students also plan to attend the 2020 World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) World Championships in the Philippines in July 2020, after having successfully qualified to take part in a number of events at this year’s Australian WEKAF Championships!

All-Active Martial Arts are very proud of our ongoing association with Doce Pares Australia and Doce Pares HQ in Cebu City, Philippines. As Doce Pares Australia Director, Master Marc Toussaint hopes to offer future groups the opportunity to experience the invaluable training and enriching culture of the Philippines by coordinating regular training camps to Doce Pares World Headquarters.

Enquiries are welcomed for more information about Filipino Martial Arts, learning Eskrima-Kali-Arnis, WEKAF Stick Fighting or for supply of genuine Filipino Martial Arts Training Equipment. Contact us on 03 8418 1822 or via email to info@allactivemartialarts.com.au

Located in Epping VIC, in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, All-Active Martial Arts offer regular classes in Eskrima Doce Pares and WEKAF Stick Fighting, run by Master Marc Toussaint, 6th Grade International Black Belt - Doce Pares Eskrima-Kali-Arnis.
