WEKAF (Filipino martial art of stick fighting)

The World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) exists to promote the Filipino martial art of stick fighting and is the parent body behind the tournaments conducted in many countries. Its predecessor was the National Arnis Association of the Philippines who first began the conducting of stick fighting tournaments.

In August of 1987 Grand Master Dionisio Canete invited top masters and instructors from several countries to visit the Philippines and train. This opening of Arnis to the outside world was the catalyst which was to lead to the formation of WEKAF in 1989 and the first World Tournament with over 100 people representing ten countries taking part.
As part of our FMA (Filipino Martial Arts: Eskrima-Kali-Arnis) classes, All Active Martial Arts run training sessions in Full Contact Stick Fighting for students from 12 years of age.
In 2019, the WEKAF Australian National Tournament was hosted by All-Active Martial Arts and was held at YMCA Epping in Melbourne, Victoria on the 6th July 2019. Competitors from all around Australia made the trip to compete and qualify for the 2020 WEKAF World Championships in Cebu, Philippines. A total of 14 All-Active Martial Arts students competed in the 2019 National WEKAF Championships, earning a total of 34 medals (14 Gold, 14 Silver, 6 Bronze).
